Political Season One for the Ages
Primary’16 in the Books
After today’s (Aug. 2) primary election in Missouri, perhaps, the tone and tenor of your Facebook feed will tone down until November 7 ~ when the real decisions will be made.
Today, just limited the field and set up the grudge matches sure to form over the next 98 days. Sadly, in #Merica today, that’s just the way it is.
It is, however, troublesome and somewhat disturbing watching the political process play out this cycle. I’ve been involved in elections since 1980; the first one I was eligible to participate. I did. And, voted for the Loser. (Ronald Reagan beat Jimmy Carter). But, not as A Person. Mr. Carter has led one of the most philanthropic Lives a Human Being could do so since retirement.
His qualities as a man made me feel good about my Vote despite his unsuccessful re-election bid.
I have been a registered Democrat ever since. That doesn’t mean I’ve always voted the D in the General Election, but as Missouri’s primary system is of now, one has to declare which ballot you want.
I have been a registered Democrat ever since. That doesn’t mean I’ve always voted the D in the General Election, but as Missouri’s primary system is of now, one has to declare which ballot you want. So, I do as my Parents and my Grandparents did. Simple solution to a difficult decision that can be delayed a few months. #IDLP
I don’t have any other good reasons to explain it. It’s how I do the process. And, as a member of the ‘media’ in some way form or fashion over the past 3 decades it’s my way of staying true to principle and trying to keep it even in terms of covering public events.
Privately, I have a field day of fun with candidates of all parties. For public consumption, not so much.
And, I’m not here to persuade you on which way to Vote. That’s a YP. A burdensome task you alone are privileged to do because Brave men and women have died sustaining that freedom.
That’s where it gets tricky. There is no room for walk-backs; apologies; misstatements; clarification when you are President of the United States.
I urge you to simply #GoVote.
And, if not registered at this time; take the time to do so before the 2016 General Election and be a part of the solution.
